ALL PARISH VOLUNTEERS:
NEW CHILD PROTECTION PLATFORM
SafeParish – the new Child Protection Platform for the AoC.
By now all volunteers and employees should have received an email from SafeParish inviting them to register for their SafeParish account. If you did not receive the email, please check your spam or junk mail folders. You can also find a copy of the SafeParish registration instructions by going to the AoC’s Safe Environment Office webpage - catholicaoc.org/offices/safe-environment and going to Top Resources and then clicking the link for SafeParish.
All new volunteers and employees should follow the SafeParish registration instructions for creating a SafeParish account. During the registration process new volunteers and employees will be invited to complete their online background check and their child protection training online. New employees will also need to complete manual fingerprinting and submit a B4 form for approval.
Weekly Emails
Each Tuesday SafeParish sends an email regarding the updated child protection and workplace safety articles that are posted on the SafeParish website. These articles are NOT required but are recommended reading.
Quarterly Bulletins
Emails will come from SafeParish notifying users of the quarterly training which will also appear in their account under training that is due. Users can check for training that is due after logging into their SafeParish account by going to the Training Tab and click on the ‘Due’ link to see which bulletins are due and their due date.
This is a summary of the Decree which also describes signs of child abuse (physical, sexual, emotional) and includes phone numbers of child protection agencies in all 19 counties of the Archdiocese.
Reporting Abuse
The Archdiocese of Cincinnati regards child abuse in all its forms as gravely sinful and criminal. Anyone who knows of or suspects child abuse by a legitimate member of the clergy or hierarchy, employee, or volunteer of the Archdiocese should first report the abuse to the appropriate secular legal authority and then to Ms. Teresa Maley, Coordinator of Ministry to Survivors of Abuse of the Archdiocese, at 513-263-6623 or 1-800-686-2724, ext. 6623.
